Spring / Summer Breathing

1. Equal breathing:
Inhale – 4 counts
Exhale- 4 counts

Do 5 rounds.
This technique is beneficial for all age groups Also safe for people with any health issues.

2. Box breathing :
Inhale- 4 counts ; Hold – 4 counts
Exhale -4 counts ; Retain – 4 counts

Do for 5 rounds.
This is recommended for adult age group.
Those with high BP , pregnancy ,heart conditions AVOID .. due to breath retention in this practise.

3. Anulom- Vilom: ( alternate nostril breathing
Close right nostril with right hand
Keep left hand on the thighs.
Inhale from Left (4 counts ) , close left , Exhale from Right (4 counts), Inhale from Right (4 counts ) and Exhale from Left (4 counts).
This is one complete round.

Do 5 rounds in total .
This practise is generally safe as no retention of breathe
choose your counts start with 4 and gradually as u progress in practise u can increase the counts.
This is recommended for adults.

4. Brahmari : humming bee

Close the ears gently with nasikgra rudra or 1st finger.
With one inhalation start with humming sound (hmmmmmmm) as long as u can.
Increase the intensity of sound with every round.

Do minimum 5- 10 rounds for best results.
This is best pranayam for all age groups .
Safe for kids also .
once u finish stay there for while to allow body to absorb the vibrations

 

NOTE :
For all pranayama mentioned above keep the following poi

1. The stomach must be empty so morning practices are good .
2. Keep 3-4 hours gap if you had food .
3. Sit in upright position.
4. Do not sit under fan or a/c for breathing practices.
5. Wear comfortable clothing.
6. After every pranayama pause for a while for pranayama to work wihin.

Above are 4 highly recommended pranayama at all.times . Once you grow in your practises then can learn other pranayama under guidance of authorised yoga teacher .

he above spring/summer is specific to India and tropical countries as we experience good sun during this period. Pranayama like kapalbhati, surya bhedna and bhastrika can be intense as they are heating and increase pitta (body heat).
